What is a Street Team?
Street Teams are comprised of groups of fans that get together to help expose their favorite band to friends and fellow music listeners in their hometown. Members use promotional materials like Samplers, Stickers, Video, Flyers and Posters to give away to people just like themselves. Additionally, the team spreads the word throughout the online world via bulletin board postings, mp3 sharing, emails, and radio station requests.

What do I have to do as a Street Team member?
All we ask is that you use the items to reach out to music fans like yourself, promote the band, and let us know about what you are doing by posting feedback, sending in reports, and taking pictures. Bring them to concerts, work, school, sporting events, skate parks, storesÂ…wherever you can find potential fans.

Where are some good places to giveaway promo materials?

Since you know your hometown better than anyone else, give materials away at places where people just like yourself hang out. In case you're stumped or are looking for some ideas, here's a list of places that are great for handing out promo stuff:

  • After shows, outside a club, arena
  • College Campuses (Bookstores, Dormitories, Student Union Buildings, Radio Stations, TV Stations, Cafeterias, Fraternity Houses, Sorority Houses)
  • High schools (Home room, cafeteria)
  • Music Retail Stores (Independent Record Stores, Video & DVD Stores) & Music Equipment Shops
  • Lifestyle Shops (Unique Clothing Stores, Army Surplus Stores, Thrift Shops)
  • Tattoo and Body Piercing Shops
  • Skate Shops, Surf Shops, Bike Shops
  • Bowling Alleys, Arcades, Amusement Parks
  • Skate Parks, BMX Events, Surf events
  • Movie Screenings
  • Athletic & sporting places like gyms
  • Coffee Shops (Starbucks, Timothys, etc.)
Hang Flyers on Telephone Poles, Corkboards, Message Boards, Lockers, etc.

What's in it for me?
Other than participating in the excitement of discovering and promoting a new band and making some new friends, you'll have a chance to win cool prizes throughout the year, sometimes autographed by the band, plus:
  • Access to the Street Team Exclusive Area
  • Special promotional items exclusive to the Street Team
  • Chances to win free tickets...and sometimes you'll get to meet the band
  • Exclusive links to new music and videos

Is there an E-Team?
All Street Team Members are expected to promote the band on-line. You can do this by posting about the band in chat rooms, sending MP3's of the band's music or links to the site to your friends via email, and by visiting music sites, sports & gaming sites, and your other favorite sites and posting about the band. Please supply a link to the band's website so new fans can visit and listen to their music. Please do not spam sites with multiple posts.

Do I have to send in feedback?
Yes. Your feedback is extremely important. Tell us what you've done, where you've done it, whom you've met, and what they thought. You can post this info on the Street Team Bulletin Board where it can be shared with the rest of the team. If you aren't able to do that, send an email directly to Roman with your 411. We encourage your feedback so that we can see what's happening in your town and how you're creating a buzz in your area. We also want to see photos of your work that will be used for the Street Team Home Page. Photos should be emailed directly to Roman.

What should I take pictures of?
We're interested in who you, the street teamers are and what you do when you promote a band. So take pictures of yourself making new fans and handing the stuff out we send you. For instance, if you give out stickers at school, bring a camera and take some shots. If you hand out stuff outside a club, take pictures of people with the stuff you just gave them. If you have a video camera, you can shoot a quick flick of you street teaming. Have you done something interesting with the stuff we sent you or for the band - like paint your car funky, get a tattoo, etc.? Take a picture of that and send it in.

What do you do with the photos?
We post them to the Street Team Photos page. Photos are used as "Photo of the Week" on the Street Team Home Page.

Where should I send photos?
Photos should be emailed to If you are unable to email photos, snail-mail them to:

What about Canadians and other non-US residents?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept non-US residents at this time. Because bands have different record companies for each different country, it makes it difficult to coordinate what's happening elsewhere with what we are doing here in the US. In some cases it's actually illegal to send our records to people in other countries.
